What is a locally-owned business?

• It must be privately owned, rather than publicly traded
• The main place of business must be in the city (or an adjacent city) in which it advertises.
• At least half of the owners of the business must live within 50 miles of the city in which the business resides.
• If the business has multiple locations (whether a chain or franchise), at least 10 percent of those locations must be in the city (or an adjacent city) in which it advertises.

What does it cost to advertise?

AD BOXES

The monthly cost of an ad box depends on what page it will appear on and how many time slices for a box are purchased. Costs are for a single city. If the same ad (for the same type of page) is purchased for additional cities, a 20% discount will be given for each additional city.

For the following page types, each ad box is divided into 5 time slots. That means if you buy a time slot for a box, your ad will be shown approximately every 5th time a page is brought up or refreshed. Of course you can buy a box that shows all the time, but allowing time slices to be purchased will let small business with limited budgets to advertise for as little as $10 a month.

Pages that contain actual stories are slightly different. An ad box purchased for a news story page can appear on any news story for a particular city. Note that if a story is available in multiple cities, each city is treated separately. As a bonus, any ad that is purchased for a news story page can also appear on the About Newbor page.

There are 20 time slices available for each city (but remember, each time slice has the potential to be viewed for any news story available for the city purchased).

In addition, secondary news pages (the page a reader goes to when clicking an image on a page) also have 20 time available time slices.

What are the requirements for images?

• The size of ad images should be as follows...

  Box ad on main page	:	125 pixels wide x 100 pixels high
  Box ad on any other page	:	400 pixels wide x 60 pixels high
  Coupon ad	:	500 pixels wide x 150 pixels high

• The image must be static. Nothing animated, flashing, etc.
• You must have the legal right to use the image.
• No profanity, obscenity, or anything else most of us wouldn’t want our grandmothers to see. Same with the URL pointed to by the ad box. (our grandmothers will be the final judges).

Newbor really will give me a web page?

Yes.

If you want to advertise your business on Newbor using a box ad, but you don’t have a web page, we’ll give you a simple one with your company information. You can send us an HTML file and any associated images, or we’ll help you design it for a small charge.

A few requirements for a web page we provide to you:

• The web page will be a single page. It may not contain code that performs any actions, or a link to another site.
• While the page may contain images such as your company logo and other pictures related to your business, it may not contain any coupons or special offers. We offer coupon advertising if you would like to offer special deals to your Newbors.
• Newbor retains the final discretion regarding the acceptability of a web page we provide to you
